Rory Gallagher
(1948-1995)

I had the priviledge to see one of his gigs in the early 1990's in "Zalen Schaaf" in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. The man played an amazing gig. Even though he was in his fourties, he played like he did 20 years ago. Unfortunately that was my one and only encounter with the living Rory. I bought tickets for a December gig in the famous Paradiso in Amsterdam for a friend of mine(who went to the Leeuwarden gig with me)  and me, but we ended up broke at the time of the gig. Living in the east of the Netherlands, there was no way we could get to Amsterdam. The worst part was that the night before, Rory played a gig walking distance away from where we lived, but we could not exchange the tickets. The next summer, after a great Rolling Stones Concert(Voodoo Lounge Tour, Nijmegen), in the bus back home, in a major traffic jam, I said to my friends: "this was great, but the next concert we're going to is Rory". Later on that day I heard on the radio that Rory had died...
As there are already many sites about Rory with great pictures and sometimes clips, I will not make another collection of pictures, stolen from the web and take the credit for pictures which aren't mine. Instead I will add links to sites of fans who either put in a lot of effort in gathering original and rare material, or sites which contain a must see for a Rory fan.
